Double electrode DC submerged arc furnace is a heat treatment equipment used for smelting metals. It is composed of two electrodes, which provide current through a DC power supply, forming an arc between the electrodes and generating high temperature. Ores or metal materials are placed in a furnace and melted or heated to the desired temperature through the high-temperature action of an arc.

This equipment can smelt various ores, slag, and waste slag, and extract various valuable metals. Easy to operate, low energy consumption. Taking iron ore as an example, processing one ton of raw material requires 800 kW·h of electricity.

The reason why our DC equipment saves 15% power compared with AC equipment

1.Natural power factor is as high as 0.95~0.98. In the working state, no matter the power size, no reactive power compensation device, the natural power factor of the equipment is always above 0.95, and the constant power factor is realized. The efficiency of converting electric energy into heat energy is high, and the effect of saving electricity is achieved. Save 15% power consumption than AC furnace.

2.There is no eddy current in the short network circuit of DC circuit, it will not produce eddy current heating phenomenon and avoid wasting electric energy.

3.DC current has no skin effect, the short network circuit can pass through larger current under the same cross section area, the conductor utilization ratio is high, the calorific value is small, and the heat loss is low.

4. DC has zero-zero characteristics and no polarity.The change is only a weak change, so the DC arc is more stable than the AC arc.In terms of flash intensity, it is only 20% of the AC furnace, and the impact on the power grid is much smaller than that of the AC furnace, and there is no odd harmonic interference to the power grid of 3th, 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th.


Equipment characteristics

5.In the smelting process, metal ions in the melt will be concentrated around the negative electrode due to electrolysis, so as to improve the yield and purity of products, which is more conducive to the enrichment of precious metals and other high-value metals.


6.The current direction and electromagnetic field direction of DC furnace remain unchanged. Driven by the magnetic field, the molten slurry circulates in one direction all the time, forming electromagnetic stirring, so that the material melts without dead corners, the product quality is high, and the yield is high.


7.When an accident occurs in the smelting process and a power failure occurs for a period of time, an insulating hard shell will be formed on the surface of the molten liquid. 

Facing this situation, the double electrode DC furnace can start arc smelting again by adding arc striking materials such as coke at the bottom of the electrode.
